SUPPORT FOR THE CALL FOR ACTION GROWS IN CEE REGION

On March 19, during the Fuel Congress 2025 held in Warsaw, representatives of 12 Central European and national organizations representing companies from the fuel, transport, and automotive sectors have signed the Call for Action to the European Commission. The signatories jointly appeal to streamline the implementation of climate and energy policy across the Member States, as well as for additional work at the EU level to ensure the competitiveness of the EU economy and to protect the most vulnerable citizens. Since then, the manifesto has gained further support from additional European organizations. As a result, the Call for Action has now been endorsed by more than 30 entities that recognize the urgent need to align climate policy with socio-economic realities and security considerations. The document was submitted to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on April 17, 2025.

The Call for Action outlines three key expectations:

  • Establishment of a coherent EU transport and energy strategy that would enable Central and Eastern European countries to enhance their competitiveness and create a level playing field for transport decarbonization — while ensuring technological neutrality and energy security,
  • Improving the feasibility of achieving the Green Deal objectives through the implementation of optimal decarbonisation measures under the Clean Industrial Deal,
  • Ensuring fuel security by increasing the capacity of pipeline, rail, and port infrastructure.
